About Friends of Animals

Compassion rooted in everyday presence.

For over 7+ years of work with animals and communities, Friends of Animals has worked directly in local neighbourhoods to foster empathy, support street animals, and create safe spaces for coexistence.

Our story

Born from the realities of city streets.

Living on the streets presents continuous hazards for animals: traffic, territorial disputes, monsoon rains, and hunger. Often, local residents care deeply but lack access to basic veterinary guidance or first-aid supplies.

Friends of Animals began as a practical response to this gap. Rather than operating as a distant entity, our volunteers stepped in where animals lived — building relationships with neighbourhood caretakers, treating fleas and wounds, and organising regular feeding routines.

Over approximately 7 to 8 years, this simple philosophy has grown into a network of volunteers, foster homes, and compassionate community partners.

Our approach

Community-centric welfare

Street animals thrive best when the humans living alongside them are active allies. We work with local shopkeepers, watchmen, and residents who know these animals best.

Prevention before crisis

Regular territory feeding and routine anti-rabies vaccinations prevent medical deterioration, territorial aggression, and human-animal friction.

Ethical, lifelong adoption

We prioritise responsible home placements over fast turnaround. Every prospective home is engaged in honest dialogue about commitment and patience.

Dignity & non-judgement

We support community caregivers with practical resources and veterinary advice rather than lecturing, recognising the difficult conditions in dense urban neighbourhoods.

Community at the heart

Animals don't live in isolation. They live in communities.

True welfare is achieved when citizens become proactive guardians. We actively support housing societies, neighbourhood associations, and individual volunteers who want to care for their local community animals.
